FEI HorseApp Vaccination Module

 

In accordance with FEI Veterinary Regulations, all equine influenza (flu) vaccination details must now be recorded on the FEI HorseApp, in addition to being recorded in the horse’s passport. The app's new vaccination module allows treating vets to register equine influenza vaccination details on the FEI HorseApp for all FEI-registered horses.

This module has been developed to uphold the FEI’s high standard of biosecurity measures and horse health requirements. It will also help FEI vets to more quickly carry out the 'examination on arrival' process at FEI events, allowing for quick and efficient access to vaccination records. 

I'm an athlete/Owner/Groom

The FEI HorseApp vaccination module will allow you to:

• View the vaccination status of horses associated with you.
• Add the last historical equine influenza vaccination if no other vaccines have been recorded on the app.

Once your horse has its last historical vaccination registered on the app, you will not be able to enter any further vaccinations that have been administered  by a vet. This can be done by any vet who has registered with FEI HorseApp, even if they are not an FEI Official Vet. If your horse has not yet received the first vaccination of the primary course (V1) against equine influenza, it will be recorded by your vet when your horse is vaccinated.

How do I access the vaccination module on the FEI HorseApp?

• Download the FEI HorseApp onto your phone. 

How do I register a historical vaccination on the FEI HorseApp?

1. Associate yourself with your horse. The horse must be listed on your My Horses list before you can register a historical vaccination. For more information: How to manage my horses on the FEI HorseApp.

3. On the horse's profile, open the Horse Health tab and tap Vaccinations.

4. If there is no vaccination recorded, tap on New historical vaccination

5. Enter all the vaccination details
   • Vaccine type (eg primary course first vaccine, second vaccine)
   • Brand
   • Batch number
   • Date administered
   • Upload a photo of the passport cover page
   • Upload photos of all passport pages that contain equine influenza vaccination details – there is no need to add pages for non-equine influenza vaccines.
   • Tap on green button to accept the vaccine details

6. The vaccine details are now recorded with a PENDING VALIDATION status.

7. Under Last Vaccination, you will see the horse's eligibility to compete at an FEI event, depending on the last vaccination recorded.

What are the different statuses I might see for my vaccine?

• PENDING VALIDATION – If the vaccination details are entered by a person associated with the horse (athlete, coach, groom, owner) or by a licenced vet who isn't registered as an FEI Official Veterinarian, the vaccination details will need to be validated by the FEI and an FEI Official Veterinarian. 

• PENDING OFFICIAL VETERINARIAN VALIDATION – A FEI Official Veterinarian will validate the vaccination details during an examination on arrival at an FEI Event.

• PENDING FEI VALIDATION – The vaccination details were validated by a FEI Official Veterinarian and are pending validation from the FEI. If the first new vaccination details are entered by an FEI Official Veterinarian, the vaccinations details only need to be validated by the FEI. 

• VALIDATED – The vaccination details have been validated.

 

Can I enter more than one historical vaccination?

No. Only one historical vaccination can be entered by an athlete, owner or groom. Only vets can enter new vaccinations once a historical vaccination is registered on the app.

Will I receive a reminder when my horse needs to be vaccinated?

Yes. Automatic reminders before vaccinations lapse and information notifications will be sent to Persons Responsible (PRs) and horse owners to ensure that horses meet the necessary FEI vaccination requirements.

My horse does not compete at FEI events – do I need to register the vaccination details on the FEI HorseApp?

According to FEI Veterinary Regulations, equine influenza vaccination details must be recorded on the FEI HorseApp for all horses competing at FEI events. We also strongly recommend that any horse registered on the FEI Database with an FEI ID has their vaccination details recorded, even if they're not currently competing. However, if your horse does not compete at any FEI event, then FEI Regulations do not apply.

Are recorded vaccination details on the FEI HorseApp verified by the FEI to ensure the data is accurate?

Yes. Any vaccination details recorded on the FEI HorseApp will go through a verification process to ensure the data is accurate. When new vaccination details are recorded for an FEI-registered horse for the first time or historical vaccination details are recorded on the FEI HorseApp, the vaccination details must be validated by the FEI and an FEI Official Veterinarian. An FEI Official Veterinarian will validate the vaccination details during the examination on arrival process at an FEI Event.

Is vaccination recording in the FEI HorseApp compulsory worldwide?

Recording vaccinations on the FEI HorseApp doesn't apply to Australia and New Zealand. However, horses traveling outside of those countries to compete must be vaccinated against equine influenza and these vaccinations must be recorded in the FEI HorseApp.

What happens if I have the statement "The vaccination history of this Horse is correct to date. Last vaccination on 00/00/00 (date)" as the last entry in my passport?

You will need to contact BEF on 02475 313 434 who will outline the process as the FEI will deal with these on a case by case basis.

What happens if I delete the HorseApp off my phone and reinstall it. Will my associated horses disappear?

No, If you delete the app and reinstall it,  the horses associated with you will still be on your dashboard.

I'm an Official FEI veterinarian

FEI Veterinarians can access the app to :

• Perform the 'examination on arrival' at FEI events, in accordance with the FEI Veterinary Regulations
• Search for FEI horses during the examination on arrival, together with compatible microchip scanners
• Consult and monitor the daily temperatures of horses at FEI events, as per the FEI Veterinary Regulations
• Record equine influenza vaccination details on the FEI HorseApp 
• Verify the vaccination status of a  horse during the examination on arrival, or at any time during an event, to ensure the horse meets the vaccination requirements
• Validate a new vaccination record for a horse during the examination on arrival 

Make sure you download the offline database before going to the stables to vaccinate the horse, so that the latest data is available and you can register vaccination details to the FEI HorseApp, even if you don't have an internet connection. The vaccination details you have administered to the horse must be recorded on the FEI HorseApp on the same day when the vaccine is administered. Once this is done, the data will be verified and validated by the FEI so that the vaccination record to be validated.

What happens if I don't have any internet/data at the time of vaccinating the horse?

The FEI HorseApp works offline, but it's important that you download the offline database before going to the stables to vaccinate the horse. This will enable you to access the most up-to-date information and register the vaccination details on the FEI HorseApp, even if you do not have an internet connection during the vaccination process.

Can I log the vaccine the day after I give the vaccination?

No. The details for the vaccination you have administeredmust be recorded on the FEI HorseApp on the same day that the vaccine is administered.

Is data I've entered checked for accuracy?

I have an FEI ID, but am not a FEI-registered veterinarian

What happens at the examination on arrival at a FEI event?

If a horse's vaccination details are entered in the FEI HorseApp, you will see their vaccination status on the app when you perform the examination on arrival. If the horse has its vaccination details recorded and validated on the FEI HorseApp, you will see the vaccination status of the horse and if it meets the necessary vaccination requirements on the same page where you also verify the horse health requirements. How to use the FEI HorseApp during the examination on arrival

How do I create a FEI account to use the FEI HorseApp?

Licenced vets not registered with the FEI can create an account within the FEI HorseApp.
