BEFF is Badminton Horse Trials 2020 fundraising partner

Monday, 18 November 2019

Next year, Britain’s human and equine athletes head to Japan to compete on the biggest stage of all – the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Preparing, equipping and sending our teams and support staff half-way around the world is a costly undertaking. That is why the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) is proud to announce that the British Equestrian Federation Fund (BEFF) has been chosen as Badminton Horse Trials’ nominated fundraising partner for 2020.

BEFF supplements the funding the World Class Programme receives from The National Lottery through UK Sport to ensure we’re able to meet the considerable costs of preparing and sending teams, including the all-important reserve combinations, to Tokyo.

Badminton Horse Trials is one of the most high-profile fixtures in the equestrian sporting calendar. Held in the grounds of Badminton House in Gloucestershire, next year’s CCI5* competition will run from 6–10 May and is expected to see entries from top-class event riders from across the world, including athletes on the World Class Programme.

“We’re excited that spectators at next year’s Badminton Horse Trials will have the opportunity to lend their support to our human and equine athletes on their road to Tokyo,” commented the British Equestrian Federation’s Interim Chief Executive Iain Graham. “Badminton Horse Trials has been a long-time supporter of our British teams, and I’d like to thank them for being part of our Olympic and Paralympic journey.”

Since 2000, Great Britain has won a total of 61 Olympic and Paralympic medals in the equestrian disciplines of dressage, showjumping, eventing and para-dressage. With our human and equine athletes currently on outstanding form, Tokyo 2020 will be a chance to add more to this tally – the British Equestrian Federation is ready for the challenge. Join us at Badminton Horse Trials next year and get behind your team to help them on their journey toward medal glory.
