Tom comes from an equestrian family – his mother was a showjumper and his father is an equine vet. He won a Pony team gold medal in 2007, then was part of the Young Rider team who brought home a sixth successive European team gold in 2010, followed by a seventh in 2011.
He made his CCI5* debut in 2013, and has twice won the U25CCI4* at Bramham.
Tom seems to be the ‘go-to’ rider for pregnant eventers – Australia’s Sammi Birth and Great Britain’s Zara Tindall and Ros Canter all selected him to compete their top rides while they were on maternity leave.
Tom has been riding Toledo De Kerser – known simply as Toledo – since 2013, and finished second with him at the CCI2* Young Horse Championships in Le Lion. They were nominated for the Rio Olympics, but made their senior team debut as part of the team travelling out to Tryon for the World Equestrian Games in 2018, where they helped secure team gold. They went on to win the CCI5* at Les Etoiles du Pau in 2019, their first at the level.
