For the first time since 2019, one of eventing’s biggest and best competitions is set to take over the parkland of Burghley House in Stamford, Lincolnshire. It’s been three years since Pippa Funnell and MGH Grafton Street were announced as winners of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, and it’s now time for some of the sport’s top combinations to come forward and try to take their crown.
The event runs from Wednesday 31 August to Sunday 4 September, and we’ve rounded up all the different ways you can catch a slice of the action…
Burghley TV will be providing extensive live coverage of the event, from the first horse inspection all the way through to the moment the trophy is held aloft by this year’s victor on Sunday.
For a one-off cost of £20, subscribers will also have access to…

BBC2 will be showing a two-hour programme at 14:00 on Sunday 4 September, including competition highlights plus live coverage of the climax of the showjumping phase. Clare Balding will be presenting the programme, with commentary provided by Nick Luck and multi-Olympic event rider Tina Cook.
There will be no Red Button coverage of the event this year.
The online box office may be closed, but you can still buy tickets on the gate for each day of competition (subject to availability).
In addition to top-class sporting action, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy, including face painting, the Land Rover driving experience, the Shetland Pony Grand National and lots of other daily displays and demonstrations – just check the schedule. On top of that, there are hundreds of tradestands to suit all your shopping needs, plus a food walk and shopping pavilions.
Don’t forget that our squad for the FEI Eventing World Championship in Pratoni will be practising their championship dressage tests in the main arena on Thursday, once competition has finished for the day. Make sure to come along, show your support and give them a great send-off before they head to Italy next week.
The Burghley Horse Trials website contains everything you need to know about the event, including the full schedule, results, start times and news. If you're coming along to watch the competition in person, it's also full of useful inforation to help you plan your day.
You can also tune into BHT Radio through the website, which will be bringing you live updates and interviews throughout the competition.
