Training has been high on the agenda for the World Class Programme in January. A number of sessions have been held in different locations to ensure that riders and grooms are well prepared for the 2020 competition season and the run-up to the Toyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Grooms Days – 8 and 17 Jan
Sessions were held at Bisham Abbey and the home of Manchester City Football Club, the Etihad Stadium. The grooms listened to talks from peers, including Alan Davies and Jackie Potts, and industry experts on topics including travelling horses internationally, performance nutrition for humans and horses, and how to ensure clean sport. They also had the opportunity to watch training sessions in other high-performance sports – England Hockey and British Cycling.
Media Day – 15 Jan
Riders from across the World Class Programme were invited to Warwick University for a day of media and social media workshops. Hosted by industry professionals and the BEF Comms team, participants learned how to use social media to boost their sporting and professional brand, and gained valuable advice for cultivating and feeling confident with TV and radio appearances in this Olympic year. We spotted a few who will be on our interview list after some great performances!
