Mission Paris: Countryside Raceday and auction

Wednesday, 25 October 2023

The Countryside Raceday is an annual fundraising event held on opening day of the November Meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse, held this year on Friday 17 November.  The Raceday is a major fundraiser for the Countryside Alliance and each year another fundraiser is invited to share the day. This year the British Equestrian Federation Fund (BEFF) has been invited to be the partner, with the aim of raising significant funds to help our British Equestrian Teams in their quest for medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The teams are busily preparing for our mission to Paris next year to make sure that our athletes and their horses can perform to their very best. The Equestrian World Class Programme and our championship teams are generously funded by The National Lottery, via UK Sport but in an Olympic and Paralympic year we do additional fundraising to allow us to go that extra mile – it’s often those additional special touches that can make the difference between winning or finishing fourth. Everyone who supports the Countryside Raceday plays a part the British Equestrian Teams’ success.

Alongside the activities on the day, there’s a fantastic online silent auction running with some extraordinary lots that you are able to bid on - our supporters, riders, owners and friends have really pulled out all the stops to make this an outstanding success. There’s over 65 lots for every taste and budget with a number of money-can’t-buy experiences and more lots are being added daily. You can view the lots and see how to bid via the dedicated auction webpage - bids close at the end of racing on 17 November and six lots will be auctioned live at Cheltenham as part of the Countryside Raceday.

The Equestrian World Class Programme and our championship teams are generously funded by The National Lottery, via UK Sport, but in a Games year we fundraise and go that extra mile – it’s often those additional special touches that can make the difference between winning or finishing fourth. Everyone who supports the Countryside Raceday plays a part the British Equestrian Teams’ success in dressage, eventing, jumping and para dressage.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Trustees of the British Equestrian Federation Fund (BEFF) for their support - John Troiano (Chair), Capt. Mark Phillips and Desi Dillingham.  Desi in particular has been instrumental in driving the fundraising for these events since BEFF was founded, to provide support to the Olympic and Paralympic teams.
