Wills comes from a horsey family, with both his father and aunt completing Badminton. Hespent three years working with Olympian and cross-country course designer Ian Stark, before setting up a yard at his family's farm in 2009. 

He got his first taste  of representing his country in 2011, when he and Button Clover were part of the gold medal-winning British team for the FEI Eventing Young Rider European Championship, which took place at Blair Castle. The venue has been a prominent fixture in his career, as he also finished second there in the CIC3* Scottish Open Championship and received his senior team call-up from the reserves bench for the FEI Eventing European Championship at Blair in 2015 with Greystone Midnight Melody. At the final iteration of Blair Castle Horse Trials in 2024, he completed a historic hat trick with Keep It Cooley by winning the CCI4*-L, after winning the CCI2*-L title in 2022 and the CCI3*-L title in 2023. 

Wills and Keep It Cooley had previously finished 11th at the FEI Eventing Young Horse World Championship at Le Lion in 2022 with a classy double clear. 

Wills made his CCI5* debut in 2013 at Pau with McFly. Since 2022, he's achieved a number of top-15 placings at the level, including fifth and eighth at Burghley in 2023 with Oughterard Cooley and Arklow Puissance. 

He's represented Great Britain on a number of FEI Eventing Nations Cup teams since 2016, including a win on his team debut at Ballindenisk. 

Wills now runs a yard with his wife, Stephanie, and their young daughter. Away from the horses, he enjoys golf and pickleball.
